Dr. Leon Schwechter has been practicing Internal Medicine and Geriatrics for over 30 years. He has always concentrated his efforts on giving very personalized care to all his patients by concentrating on preventative medicine and maintaining good health. Throughout the 3 decades of practice, Dr. Schwechter has developed an extensive network of expert consulting physicians that he refers to and that give the same type of personalized care that his patients treasure. His primary hospital affiliation is with St. Francis Hospital “The Heart Center”, one of the best hospitals in the whole New York area.
Dr. Schwechter was born and raised in the New York area and went to New York University for undergraduate studies. His professional education consisted of attending school in Des Moines, Iowa at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He then trained in Internal Medicine At Winthrop University Hospital and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with Added Qualifications in Geriatrics. After working as an emergency room physician for 2 years he started the private practice that has grown into Advanced Internal Medicine Group. The practice now has 4 full time physicians within our modern fully equipped new office and over 5 Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants working various jobs including our Medical House Call Service. The extensive staff that has been developed over all the years is as devoted to the patients and their care as Dr. Schwechter.
While his AIM family has grown over the years so has his personal family. Dr. Schwechter is a proud husband, father of three, and grandfather of four or as he calls them “The best invention G-d ever made!”
Javier Morales, MD, FACP, FACE, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine at Hofstra University and is Vice President at Advanced Internal Medicine Group in East Hills, New York. He earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Morales completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, New York, and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, where he served as Chief Medical Resident from 1998-1999. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Morales works to effectively implement the concepts of modern Internal Medicine for the delivery of quality primary care, along with the commitment to the education of fellow healthcare professionals and students. As such, he is active in clinical research, having served as an investigator on several key clinical trials, has published numerous articles in major peer-reviewed journals, and is a frequent presenter at many national and international continuing medical education forums. He is involved in the training of medical residents, nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants. He is fluent in Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and is a Fellow if the American College of Physicians, Fellow of the American College of Clinical Endocrinologists, and is a Fellow of the Interamerican College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Craig Grobman is a native New Yorker born and raised on Long Island. He completed his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo followed by a drastic climate change when he attended medical school at the Midwestern University Glendale Arizona Campus. In preparation for returning and settling back home on Long Island, Dr. Grobman completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY and is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Grobman has been a physician at Advanced Internal Medicine Group, PC since 2005 and has subsequently joined in partnership. His focus is on outpatient primary and preventative care but is fluent as well in inpatient hospital care.
In 2015, Dr. Grobman recognized the need for medical care to be delivered to patients at home who have not been able to get out to their physicians office or those who have revolved between the hospital and rehab setting, home and back to the hospital without reaching their physicians office. This sparked the development of AIM House Calls, a segment of Advanced Internal Medicine Group, PC that brings our diagnostic and treatment expertise to those at home who are in need. Dr. Grobman currently serves as its principle medical director.
Recently, Dr. Grobman’s focus on the entirety of his patients’ health has influenced him to developed a niche in weight management. The emergence of AIM Weight Management evolved out of his general medical practice and now has become an entity under the Advanced Internal Medicine Group, PC. The education, treatment and collaboration with patients on a regular basis thorough traditional office visits and now through the advances of telemedicine enables AIM Weight Management to be a successful solution to the needs of many patients with varying obstacles.
Dr. Grobman views his practice as a fulfilling, relationship building, and rewarding daily experience. In his free time, Dr. Grobman enjoys spending time with his family and helps to coach his three boys in baseball, basketball and football.
